London FW: Noon by Noor

She is beauty, she is grace. Noon by Noor share their blueprint for the modern woman.

A decadent time warp seduced Somerset House for one of the first shows at LFW on Friday, as Noon by Noor’s F/W ready-to-wear collection brought 1980s luxe to a contemporary landscape. Established in 2008 in Bahrain by cousins Shaikha Noor Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Al Khalifa, the designers found influence for their recent line of work from Bahrain’s architectural landscape, “specifically, the work of Swiss architect Christian Kerez, whose multi-storey car parks in the city of Muharraq Bahrain transform into communal spaces for art, culture and movement”. And movement this collection sure had. While boxy shoulders, tapered waists and sturdy collars brought the 1980s powerhouse woman to play – all to the pounding bass of New Order for a thrash of retro – the collection also toyed with draped silhouettes and slices at the back for a seductive show-and-tell. Shaikha Haya Al Khalifa added: “we focused on finding a sense of balance – between structure and curves, elegance and ease, function and frivolity”, all in a space that balanced their art with the architecture, and their softened lines with the concrete pillars around the runway.

And Noon by Noor is no stranger to sophisticated tailoring. Consistently embodying a strong silhouette for the modern woman, they are in the running to becoming the brick and mortar for quiet luxury. While floor length herringbone, shiny warm neutrals and textured greys dominated the event, striking pops of olive chartreuse added a resort feel to the classically autumnal pieces – all while bouncing off a wet look reflective floor that made the models appear to quite literally walk on water. Talk about God is a Woman. Noon by Noor have perfected the art of storytelling, and their F/W 25 collections embody a true “collage of the past, present and future” with a timeless grace.
